The platform provides excellent facilities for studying the effects of abiotic and biotic factors on boreal tree species in the early phases of forest regeneration chain, and for finding means to manage the risks related to anthropogenic pressures. The facilities are mainly targeted for forest tree seed and seedling studies, but they fit well for studies with other plant species as well.
The platform consists of research nursery (sowing line, plastic greenhouses, short-day treatment facilities, frozen storage, test fields), different controllable growth facilities (research greenhouse, climate chambers with adjustable LEDs, freezing test chambers and temperature-controlled rooms), and well-equipped laboratories for various purposes (plant physiology, molecular biology, tissue culturing, microscopy, soil studies, seed studies).
